Kumandi Drums offers djembe drums from a variety of West African nations, including Guinea, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal and the Gambia. Specific orders can be honored, but may take extra time. All drums are refined to the highest standards. At a minimum, they are restrung, tightened and tuned before you take delivery. |
Additionally, when necessary, shells are upgraded, bearing edges are recut, rings are resized and new skins are mounted. The basic price for one of these high quality djembe drums is $200-300. Special orders may incur additional expense. The right and center drums above are from Ivory Coast and sell for $250. They are almost identical, except for the color of the fabric on the rings, and the center drum has geometric carving on the stem whereas the right drum has a smooth stem. The left drum is a premium, ballet-style djembe from Guinea and sells for $350.

Djembe bags are also available. These are high-quality, professional level drum bags made by TKL which have I have used on dozens of flights as checked baggage with great results and total protection for the drum. The price for bags designed to accommodate 12” x 24” drums or 14” x 25” drums is $110 plus shipping. A $30 discount is given for simultaneous purchase of a drum and bag. Bags are now available in both red/black and gray/black!

Boomwhackers, those whacky tuned percussion tubes, are also available. Basic price is $20 per set of 6 tubes in the pentatonic scale, plus shipping. Discounts can be made for orders of larger quantities.
